Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy
Solution-focused brief therapy is a short term arrangement that focuses narrowly on goals. It addresses the most fundamental question of, “What would it look like if things were better?” With that in mind, we identify the problem and the optimal result, using problem-solving to figure out how to get from A to B.
An Example of Problem-Solving with Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy:
Let us say that the goal is to stop overspending money. We start by discussing what that would entail beyond the obvious action of spending less money. What would you be doing instead of overspending? That might look like going out and socializing with other people to feel excitement and overcome the urge to spend.
